Annual Bass Fishing Tournament

5th Annual Bass Fishing Tournament SUCCESS!

April 2nd started off a beautiful day for fishing. The weather was wonderful at McGowen Valley on Lake Whitney. Operation Blessing of Johnson County and the Cleburne Bass Club  work together hosting the Tournament every year. Johnson County came together once again in making our 5th Annual Fishing tournament a great big Success!!

2022 we had 27 teams that fished with us. Unfortunately, the fish thought it was still April Fools’ Day, and a few of our teams did not get a single nibble. We hope they will be back again next year to battle with the bass. To quote Mayor Cain, “While they call it fishing and not catching, they also say a day on the water is better than one in the office.  While the fish didn’t cooperate, the auction winner and I had a great time enjoying God’s creation on a beautiful day on Lake Whitney.” Next year we will try to get the fish to cooperate for the tournament! Even though the fish weren’t on board for all of the teams, one team managed to take 1st place and get the biggest bass. Congratulations to the Pinnacle Bank team of Justin Stewart and Russel Farmer—their string of fish weighed 21 ½ lbs. and their Big Bass was over 6 lbs.!
